Micheline Presle, born Micheline Nicole Julia Émilienne Chassagne on 22 August 1922 in Paris, France, was a prominent French actress known for her work in over 50 films. She started acting at age 15, winning the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti in 1938. After gaining European stardom, she moved to Hollywood in 1950, signing with 20th Century Fox and changing her last name to Prelle due to a shampoo brand. In Hollywood, she starred in films like 'Under My Skin' (1950) and 'American Guerrilla in the Philippines' (1950). She married American actor William Marshall, but they divorced in 1954. Presle's career flourished in France post-divorce, with notable roles in 'Blind Date' (1959) and 'I Want to Go Home' (1989), for which she was nominated for a César Award. She signed the Manifesto of the 343 in 1971, publicly declaring she had an illegal abortion. Presle passed away on 21 February 2024 at the age of 101.
