Liza Minnelli (born March 12, 1946) is an American actress and singer who rose to prominence for her roles on stage and screen. Born in Los Angeles but raised partly in Scarsdale, New York, she began her career in musical theater after moving to New York City in 1961. Minnelli won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for 'Flora the Red Menace' (1965), marking her lifelong collaboration with John Kander and Fred Ebb. She gained international recognition for her role as Sally Bowles in 'Cabaret' (1972), winning an Academy Award for Best Actress, and has been acclaimed for her performances on stage and screen.
