Mary Beth Hurt, born Mary Beth Supinger on September 26, 1946, is an American actress known for her work both on stage and screen. She has been nominated for three Tony Awards for her Broadway performances. Her first marriage was to actor William Hurt. Since 1982, she has been married to filmmaker Paul Schrader.

In Los Angeles, five women's lives intersect around the death of a young woman. The story unfolds in five chapters.
