After graduating from the prestigious Paris Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, she launched her film career in 1975. Azéma has been recognized for her roles in various films, notably winning two César Awards for Best Actress - one for her performance in 'A Sunday in the Country' (1984) and another for 'Melo' (1984). She has worked extensively with director Alain Resnais, appearing in several of his films including 'Life Is a Bed of Roses' (1983), 'Smoking/No Smoking' (1993), 'On conosc la chanson' (1997), and 'Pas sur la bouche' (2003).
