Edwige Fenech was born to Maltese and Sicilian parents in Bône, French Algeria (now Annaba, Algeria). Bernardo 'I l Gandi' Mambelli, a Milanese worker and PCI militant, saves homosexual teenager Claudio from fascist attackers. Gandi, unaware of Claudio's sexual orientation, takes him home to recover.
