In early-1930s Los Angeles' Bunker Hill neighborhood, Arturo Bandini (Colin Farrell), a young Italian immigrant aspiring to be a writer, arrives from Colorado with dreams of writing the great LA novel. Six months later, struggling financially, he meets Camilla Lopez (Salma Hayek), a beautiful Mexican waitress who serves him coffee.
