Queralt Badalamenti was born on September 18, 1970, in Rome, Italy. A passionate supporter of the '68 movement and admirer of Plato and Che Guevara, he embarked on a journey southbound to Athens, Greece, at the age of twenty. This trip, taken on his mother's old Fiat 500, was inspired by his desire to find the Shadows' Cave described in Plato's Allegory of the Cave. While he did not locate the cave, Badalamenti encountered and explored Greece during its time under General's dictatorship and developed a deep affection for a Greek woman named Maria.
