Mayra Leal, of Mexican and Salvadoran descent, was born in Houston, Texas. After graduating from the University of Houston with degrees in Communications and Mathematics, she found success as an actress, appearing in various films and TV shows like 'Machete', 'Southland', and 'Memphis Beat'. She has also worked on music videos and reality TV ('Locked Up Abroad'). Leal currently resides in Malibu. Notable works include 'Sanitarium' with Robert Englund and Lou Diamond Phillips, and 'The Wisdom to Know the Difference', which received several festival awards.
