Maria Cavalier-Bazan is a burgeoning actress who made a significant impact with her starring role as the lead character, Armande Pigeon, in the zany romantic comedy Heads or Fails (original French title: Aimer perdre), released in 2024 and 2025. The film follows her character's chaotic life as a broke, gambling-addicted anti-heroine in Brussels. Her performance in this role earned her the Best Performance Award at Fantastic Fest in Austin and the Best Actress award at the Namur Festival (FIFF) in 2024.
Before achieving cinematic recognition, Cavalier-Bazan established herself through her work in the Brussels theater scene. She is a graduate of the ESACT-Royal Conservatory of Liège. Her other film credits include an appearance in Des rayons et des ombres by Xavier Giannoli. Born in the early 1990s in Paris, she had a globe-trotting childhood before settling in Belgium. Cavalier-Bazan is noted for bringing a unique energy and collaborative spirit to her roles, working closely with directors Lenny and Harpo Guit to develop the character of Armande Pigeon.
