Lena Dunham, born May 13, 1986, is an American writer, director, actress, and producer. She created, wrote, starred in, and directed the HBO series 'Girls' (2012-2017), earning several Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe Awards, making her the first woman to win a Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – Comedy Series. Dunham began her career with 'Tiny Furniture' (2010), winning an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay. She has since directed films like 'Sharp Stick' and 'Catherine Called Birdy'. In 2013, she was named in Time's annual Time100 list. Dunham has also written a book titled 'Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's Learned', co-founded the feminist newsletter Lenny Letter with Jenni Konner, and appeared in various films and TV shows like 'Scandal' and 'The Simpsons'.
