Veronica Cartwright, born April 20, 1949 in England, is an American actress known for her roles in science fiction and horror films. She began her career as a child actress with notable performances in 'The Children's Hour' and 'The Birds'. Her breakthrough came with 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1978), followed by significant roles in 'Alien' (1979) for which she earned a Saturn Award, 'The Right Stuff', and 'The Witches of Eastwick'. In the 1990s, she received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her guest appearances on 'ER' and 'The X-Files'. Her younger sister is actress Angela Cartwright.
