Marina Abramović, born on November 30, 1946 in Belgrade (then Yugoslavia), is a pioneering performance artist who began her career in the early 1970s. Based in New York since then, she has been active for over three decades and is considered by many as the 'grandmother of performance art'. Abramović's work explores the dynamics between performer and audience, pushing physical limits, and probing mental possibilities.
