María Nela Sinisterra was born in Buenaventura, Colombia, and studied nursing at the Instituto Femenino La Anunciación before moving to Bogotá. She participated in reality shows like Señorita Bogotá (2006) and De frente al miedo (Argentina, 2008). Sinisterra co-wrote episodes for the sitcom ¡Todas a mí! (2011), acted in films like Penumbra (2011), and made her Spanish film debut in Solo para dos (2013) alongside Santi Millán. She continued working in various Colombian and international productions, including Tiempo muerto, Perros with John Leguizamo, Pacífico, and Buscando el muerto arriba.
