Maïwenn Le Besco, born Maïwenn Aurélia Nedjma Le Besco, is a French actress and filmmaker who began her career as a child actor, notably playing 'Elle, as a child' in 'L'été meurtrier' (1983). After marrying director Luc Besson and having a daughter in 1993, she paused her acting for several years before resuming with roles like Diva Plavalaguna in 'The Fifth Element' (1997) and appearances in films like 'Haute Tension' (2003). Since then, Maïwenn has written, directed, and starred in multiple films, including the award-winning 'Polisse' (2011), and most recently 'Jeanne du Barry' (2023) which opened the Cannes Film Festival.
