Jeanne Tripplehorn, born Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn on June 10, 1963, is an American actress known for her role as Dr. Catherine Tramell in the thriller film 'Basic Instinct' (1992). She started her career in theater, acting in several plays including Anton Chekov's 'Three Sisters' on Broadway before transitioning to film. Her notable films include 'The Firm' (1993), 'Waterworld' (1995), and 'Sliding Doors' (1998). On television, she starred in HBO series 'Big Love' as Barbara Henrickson from 2006 to 2011, for which she received critical acclaim. She also played Dr. Alex Blake on CBS's 'Criminal Minds' from 2012 to 2014 and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her role as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the HBO movie 'Grey Gardens' (2009).
