Gina Athans starred as Ruth in the 2008 film 'Flashbacks of a Fool'. The movie follows Joe Scott, an aging Hollywood star who reflects on his past after the death of his childhood friend Boots. In flashbacks to their seaside hometown in 1970s Britain, Joe is seen as a teenager navigating a relationship with Ruth and dealing with the advances of Evelyn, his mother's friend. The story switches back to contemporary Hollywood, where Joe confronts his past and returns to England to meet Ruth, who had married Boots after Joe left home.
