Dorothy Stratten (February 28, 1960 – August 14, 1980) was a Canadian model and actress who gained fame as the Playboy Playmate of the Month for August 1979 and subsequently became the Playmate of the Year in 1980. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Stratten appeared in several comedy films and television shows during her career. Tragically, she was murdered at the age of twenty by her estranged husband and manager Paul Snider, who then committed suicide. Her life and death inspired two motion pictures.
