Denise Georgette Gordy, born to George and Rosemary Gordy, is a member of the prominent Motown family with Berry Gordy as her uncle. She has appeared in numerous films and television shows, starting with 'Lady Sings the Blues' (1972) and most recently 'Toy Soldiers' (1991). Gordy also contributed vocals to the soundtrack album for 'Black Fist'. She was married to actor Richard Lawson from 1978 until 1989, and they have one child together. Notably, Gordy is the biological mother of Marvin Gaye III, born when she was 16, with singer Marvin Gaye as his father. After his birth, Marvin III was adopted by Anna Gordy Gaye.
