Carra Patterson was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, with her mother being 16 years old at the time of her birth. She graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and began appearing in off-Broadway productions. Her film debut was in 'Why Did I Get Married Too?' (2010), followed by Broadway debut in 'Wit' (2012). She also appeared in notable stage productions like 'Jitney'. Patterson's television credits include 'Straight Outta Compton' (2015), regular role in 'The Arrangement' (2017-18), and portraying Josephine Baker in 'Lovecraft Country' (2020). Recently, she starred in 'Turner & Hooch' (2021) and played Coretta Scott King in 'Rustin' (2023), with an upcoming role in 'Elsbeth'. Her performances span film, TV, and theater.
