Story

Medical student Herbert West arrives at Miskatonic University with a controversial obsession: reanimating dead tissue using his homemade reagent. Initially experimenting on animals like cats, West's ambition grows as he moves on to human corpses. He convinces his skeptical roommate Dan Cain to assist him, leading to a series of grotesque and humorous reanimated incidents around the campus. Their secret experiments catch the attention of Dr. Carl Hill, who seeks to steal their work. As West's experiments intensify, so does the chaos, culminating in a bloody confrontation between West, Hill, and the reanimated corpses.

Summary

Based on H.P. Lovecraft's short story 'Herbert West–Reanimator', this 1985 film directed by Stuart Gordon is a blend of horror, comedy, and science fiction. The story follows ambitious medical student Herbert West as he continues his controversial reanimation experiments at Miskatonic University. The movie is known for its black humor and graphic depictions of violence and gore, earning it the classification of a 'splatter film'.
