Story

Rachel leaves her Amish community in Pennsylvania to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer in New York City. She arrives at Billy Minsky's Burlesque, hoping to perform but finds that her biblical dance routines are not suitable for the venue. Raymond, one of the comedians at the club, sees Rachel's unique act as an opportunity to outsmart local morality crusaders who have been closing down burlesque shows. He announces Rachel as 'Mme Fifi,' a new Paris sensation, and plans to perform her dance during a police raid on the club. Meanwhile, Rachel's father is searching for her in New York, while both Raymond and his straight-man Chick develop feelings for Rachel.

Summary

Night They Raided Minsky's is a 1968 American comedy-musical film directed by William Friedkin. The movie follows Rachel, an Amish woman who arrives in New York City with aspirations of becoming a dancer. She lands at Billy Minsky's Burlesque, where her religious dance routines clash with the venue's more provocative entertainment. The film explores themes of cultural collision and sexual repression through Rachel's experiences and the various characters she encounters.
