Story

Frank and Lee, a married couple struggling with marital problems, seek help from a female sex therapist. Frank has been impotent for 18 months, and Lee's sympathy towards him fluctuates between understanding and criticism. Frank's temper becomes an issue, leading him to see a psychotherapist who relates his anger to his sexual dysfunction. The therapist recommends hiring a mysterious European woman to guide them through fantasies intended to unlock their passion and aid healing. Meanwhile, the police investigate a series of brutal nighttime killings in the area. As corpses pile up, suspicion falls on Frank due to his temper, Eric (a cross-dressing neighbor and friend of Lee's), or even the European woman who keeps introducing new fantasies.

Summary

‘Surrogate’ is a 1984 Canadian-American drama thriller directed by Don Carmody. The film centers around a married couple navigating sexual frustration and marital tension, intertwined with an escalating series of mysterious murders. While the movie's primary focus is on the couple's struggles and their unconventional attempt at therapy, it also explores themes of jealousy, obsession, and the darker side of human desire. The plot blurs the lines between psychological drama and thriller, creating a suspenseful atmosphere that keeps viewers guessing about the true nature of the events unfolding.
