Story

In 'Past Tense', a former police officer turned novelist named Tom (played by James Garner) meets an attractive woman named Laura who has recently moved in next door to him. They spend a night together, and she invites him back the following evening. However, upon arriving at her house, Tom discovers that Laura has been murdered. When he reports the crime, he is told by Detective Jim Conlon (played by Barry Bostwick) that no woman named Laura ever lived there. Adding to the confusion, when Tom returns to the house, he finds a completely different woman claiming to have lived there for years with no knowledge of anyone else having resided there previously.
