Story

Ray, an experienced painter, hires Gerry, an Australian woman with mountain climbing skills, to join his crew of men painting power towers in a 15-mile stretch outside Sheffield. Despite initial resistance from the crew, Ray and Gerry grow closer and eventually fall in love. Ray proposes to Gerry, but tensions rise when Steve, one of Ray's friends and colleagues, becomes jealous of their relationship. Meanwhile, Ray's ex-wife complains about his spending on Gerry instead of supporting his own children. As the job approaches its deadline, economic pressures mount, sparking the film's climax.

Summary

Among Giants is a 1998 British comedy-drama directed by Sam Miller. Set in Yorkshire, the film explores themes of friendship, love, and professional rivalry among Ray's painting crew, who are hired to paint power towers along a 15-mile stretch of high-tension wires. The story revolves around the developing relationship between Ray and Gerry, an Australian woman who joins their predominantly male team. The film combines romantic tension with workplace dynamics, set against the backdrop of the men's grueling task amidst the 'giants' of the power towers.
