She moved to New York City at age 19 to pursue a career as a makeup artist. Clayton gained recognition for playing Nomi Marks in Netflix's 'Sense8' (2015), a transgender character written by the Wachowski siblings, drawing her to the role due to its representation and her admiration for J.
