Martina Gedeck, born September 14, 1961, is a German actress known for her international roles in 'Mostly Martha' and 'The Lives of Others'. She starred as Anna Quangel in the 2008 film 'Der Baader Meinhof Komplex', portraying a woman affected by the radical-left terrorist group Red Army Faction's activities during the 1970s in Germany.

Story

In 1984 East Berlin, Stasi officer Gerd Wiesler suspects playwright Georg Dreyman of disloyalty despite his apparent ideological purity. He secures permission for surveillance from the Minister of Culture who harbors jealousy towards Dreyman and desire for his partner Christa-Maria. During surveillance, Wiesler grows fond of the couple, eventually intervening secretly to protect them. His actions go unnoticed until they catch up with him, leading to menial jobs. However, an unbelievable event occurs that affects Wiesler's fate.
