Story

Octavio Is Dead follows Tyler Kent, a young adult living with her selfish mother Joan after losing her job at a bookstore. When they learn that Tyler's estranged father Octavio Soler has passed away and left everything to Tyler, Joan sees an opportunity to improve their financial situation despite not being genuinely disabled as she claims for her disability checks. Tyler, however, decides to live in Octavio's rundown apartment instead of accepting the inheritance, hoping to understand more about her father whom she never knew. As she explores Octavio's past through his belongings and interactions with others who knew him, Tyler adopts Octavio's identity to learn more about him, even developing feelings for Apostolis Zachariou, a young man mentored by Octavio in writing. Throughout the story, Tyler must grapple with her mother's deception, her own growing feelings for Apostolis, and her desire to understand her father's true nature.
