Story

Mi-in-do follows Yun-bok (originally Yun-jeong), a woman with remarkable artistic talent living in Joseon Dynasty Korea. Due to societal constraints, she cannot pursue her passion for painting, but her brother, who was meant to become a court painter, commits suicide. To protect herself and continue creating art, Yun-jeong disguises herself as a man under the name Yun-bok. As Yun-bok, she falls deeply in love with Kang-mu while also attracting the affection of Kim Hong-do, her long-time instructor, who is unaware of her true gender. Meanwhile, a courtesan named Seol-hwa becomes hopelessly infatuated with Kim and eventually takes her own life out of jealous desperation.
