She gained recognition in the UK and US during the 1990s, particularly for her role as Dr. Elizabeth Corday in ER (1997–2004) and the title role in The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders (1996), which earned her a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress.
