Cameron Colley, a Scottish journalist with an idealistic viewpoint advocating for the underdog, finds himself unwittingly entangled in a series of brutal murders that mirror his articles' exposes on local corrupt figures. The victims are those whom Cameron had criticized in his columns, killed in gruesome ways that reflect their misdeeds. As evidence piles up against him, Cameron's friends and colleagues begin to question his involvement, while the police convene around his guilt. Desperate to clear his name and find the real killer, Cameron employs all his investigative skills to unravel the truth behind these crimes.
Based on the novel of the same name by Iain Banks, 'Complicity' (2000) is a psychological thriller directed by Gavin Millar. The film explores themes of journalism ethics, power dynamics, and moral ambiguity through its protagonist Cameron Colley. Set in Scotland, it follows Cameron as he navigates the blurred line between justice and vigilantism when his written words begin to manifest as brutal murders. With a plot that keeps viewers guessing until the end, 'Complicity' is a gripping exploration of how far one might go to expose corruption.
