Story

Ray Pluto, a detective haunted by the loss of his wife and daughter, becomes the laughing stock of the police force after being unable to prevent a mass murder at a fast food restaurant due to severe back pain. A young boy shoots the killer, but Ray's hesitation causes him to be ridiculed in the tabloids as the 'loser cop'. His partner convinces him to see Dr. Ann Beamer, a chiropractor with whom he begins an unlikely romance. Meanwhile, Ray also has to deal with screenwriters across the hall pestering him for help and his building's superintendent being stabbed by hoodlums hired by his rebellious daughter.
