Full Biography
Melissa Johnston was born to Canadian and American parents in Detroit's suburbs. She has a twin sister with whom she remains close. After graduating from secondary school, Melissa moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and later transferred to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, completing her conservatory studies in 2009. Post-graduation, she performed in regional theater productions and independent films before becoming a spokesmodel for Neutrogena's skiniD campaign, gaining national recognition as a model. Melissa subsequently landed small roles on network television and in theatrical film releases like 'Greek' and 'Water for Elephants'. She earned her first lead role as Sue in the Asylum's 'Barely Legal', a low-budget teen comedy that enjoyed unexpected success and opened many doors for her in acting and modeling. Melissa received nods for outstanding performance despite having little preparation time due to receiving the script on the first day of shooting.
