Story

In the late 21st century, a group of humans have been infected by a vampiric disease that grants them enhanced physical abilities such as speed and strength, but also makes them sensitive to light. These 'infected' are hunted by the government, leading to a potential worldwide civil war. Ultraviolet, an infected woman with exceptional combat skills, finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy named Six who is believed to be a threat due to his ability to emit light from his body. Ultraviolet must navigate the conflict between the infected and the government forces led by Daxus while trying to keep Six safe.

Summary

Ultraviolet (2006) is an action-packed dystopian science fiction film directed by Kurt Wimmer. Set in a future where vampirism has led to a sub-species of humans with enhanced abilities, the story explores themes of prejudice, fear, and the struggle for survival amidst societal conflict. The film follows Ultraviolet, one of these infected individuals, as she takes on a paternal role to protect Six, a young boy whose unique light emission capability makes him a target by both the government and other infected. While the film's plot sources vary slightly in details such as the specific year (2078 vs late 21st century) and the origin of the infection ('vampirism' vs 'disease'), they all agree on Ultraviolet's central role as a protector amidst an impending civil war.
