In 'House on Carroll Street', Emily Crane (Lisa Eichhorn) loses her job after refusing to cooperate with the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1951. She takes up a part-time job as a companion to an elderly woman. One day, she hears a heated argument in German coming from a neighboring house, which piques her interest, especially since one of the arguers is her main senator prosecutor. Emily starts investigating and enlists the help of FBI officer Cochran (James Spader), who was initially tasked with checking her out. As things become more dangerous, their collaboration proves invaluable.
