Juliette Binoche, born on March 9, 1964, is a French actress with an extensive career in film and theater. In 1960s Czechoslovakia, successful surgeon Tomas leads an uninhibited lifestyle with multiple affairs. He meets and brings back to Prague a young photographer named Tereza. When Tomas' affair with the bohemian Sabina is revealed, Tereza decides to leave him during the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. After realizing his mistake, Tomas chases after Tereza.
Based on Milan Kundera's novel, 'Unbearable Lightness of Being' (1988) is a drama directed by Philip Kaufman that explores themes of love, infidelity, and loyalty amidst political upheaval.
