In London, she meets draper Daniel Dawkins whom she marries, but he flees to France due to debts, leaving Moll penniless again. She marries American sea captain Lemuel Golightly and moves to Virginia with him, discovering her mother-in-law is also her birth mother. Moll returns to England, posing as Lady Flanders, and meets highwayman James 'Jemmy' Seagrave, who she plans to marry until he resumes his criminal life. After a series of marriages and misfortunes, Moll turns to crime but is eventually caught and sentenced to death. However, Jemmy intervenes, securing transportation to America instead.
