Beginning her career with 'The Jacksons' (1976), she gained international recognition following the release of 'Control' (1986). Her collaborations with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis resulted in crossover hits blending R&B, funk, disco, rap, and industrial beats. She signed record-breaking contracts with Virgin Records in 1991, becoming a sex symbol with her album 'Janet' (1993).
