In the Oregon mountains, two hunters stumble upon an abandoned church and encounter a killer wielding a machete. Meanwhile, five friends arrive to examine some inherited property nearby, but they are warned by a forest ranger not to venture too far into the woods. Ignoring this warning, they set up camp and soon start hearing strange noises. They also encounter a mysterious singing girl in the woods. One by one, members of their group begin disappearing.
Directed by Jeff Lieberman in 1981, 'Just Before Dawn' is a slasher horror film that follows two separate groups who cross paths with each other and a psychopathic killer in the Oregon mountains. The story involves themes of warning heeded too late, isolation in the wilderness leading to vulnerability, and the horrors that lurk beyond familiar boundaries.
