Meanwhile, Antonio develops feelings for Berta, the real estate agent who introduced him to Quintanar, despite her apparent rejection from villagers. Berta's cousin Justa and her daughters Sole and Rosita accuse Antonio of being Vimero, a mythical shapeshifter creature from local legend who cursed the town with deformities. After Sole's brutal death, Inspector Mauri arrives to investigate. Convinced Esteban is guilty, Antonio reports him but learns he has escaped. The truth about Sole's murder is revealed in a horrific manner when Antonio and Berta are together.
