Story

The Karnstein Family, vampires even after their deaths, plague the countryside of Styria until Baron Hartog stops their evil by driving a stake through their hearts, except for Mircalla Karnstein's grave which remains undiscovered. Years later, Mircalla returns to avenge her family and satisfy her bloodlust. She imposes herself on the General's household as his daughter Marcilla's houseguest, causing Laura, the General's daughter, to fall ill. The villagers whisper about vampires while Marcilla finds another family to impose upon, repeating the pattern of illness and fear.

Summary

Vampire Lovers is a 1970 erotic horror film directed by Roy Ward Baker. It is based on the novel 'Carmilla' by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. The movie explores themes of revenge, exploitation, and vampirism, with a lesbian vampire twist. Despite its exploitation label, it is considered one of the more elegant Hammer Films productions. The story revolves around Mircalla Karnstein, a vampire seeking vengeance against Baron Hartog who had decimated her family years ago.
