Full Biography

Julianne Moore (born Julie Anne Smith on December 3, 1960) is an American actress and children's author. Born to a British family, she spent her early life between Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Greenock, Scotland. Moore began acting in television after studying theatre at Boston University. She gained prominence for her roles in soap operas like 'As the World Turns' (1985-1988), earning a Daytime Emmy Award. Her breakthrough came with Robert Altman's 'Short Cuts' (1993) and Todd Haynes' 'Safe' (1995). Moore is known for her versatile roles in films like 'Boogie Nights' (1997), 'The End of the Affair' (1999), 'Far from Heaven' (2002), and 'Still Alice' (2014), winning an Academy Award for the latter. She has also written children's books about Freckleface Strawberry, is married to director Bart Freundlich, and has two children with him.
