Story

The movie 'Berlin Alexanderplatz' (2020) begins with Francis, a thirty-year-old refugee who survives an illegal boat crossing of the Mediterranean in 2015. After arriving in Berlin, Francis becomes drawn into the city's seedy underbelly. The narrative follows his experiences and interactions within this environment.

Summary

Berlin Alexanderplatz is a drama-thriller directed by Burhan Qurbani, released in 2020. It is based on Alfred Döblin's novel of the same name, originally published in 1929. The film centers around Francis, a refugee from an unknown country who arrives in Berlin after surviving a perilous journey across the Mediterranean. The story explores themes of immigration, displacement, and survival within a contemporary context. However, unlike Döblin's original novel which was set in the Weimar Republic era, Qurbani's adaptation transports these themes to modern-day Berlin.
