Benoit (Xavier Beauvois) has meticulously planned his life but forgets about his mandatory military service. When he's called up for duty, he attempts to evade it by visiting a psychiatrist and taking antidepressants, even trying suicide when that doesn't work. After being diagnosed HIV positive by a military doctor, Benoit spirals into drug addiction before leaving for Italy where he meets Claudia (Chiara Mastroianni). Their relationship briefly brings him some stability, but the story suggests this improvement is short-lived.
'Noublie pas que tu vas mourir' (1995), directed by Xavier Beauvois and starring himself as Benoit, is a French drama that explores themes of evasion, despair, and the search for redemption. The film follows Benoit's descent into chaos after he tries to escape his military obligations and subsequent HIV diagnosis. Despite its grim subject matter, the movie offers moments of beauty and humanity, particularly in Benoit's relationship with Claudia while in Italy.
