Penny Baker was born on October 5, 1965, in Buffalo, New York. She grew up on her family's farm and attended modeling school locally. At age thirteen, she began free modeling jobs to build her portfolio and won a Modeling Association of America International competition in New York City at sixteen. Finishing high school early, Baker moved to Chicago and was selected from 7,000 applicants to become the 30th Anniversary Playmate for the January 1984 issue of 'Playboy'. She subsequently appeared in several 'Playboy' videos and special editions before relocating to Los Angeles. There, she had minor acting roles in 'Real Genius' and 'The Men's Club', and served as a spokesperson for Suzuki.
