Dr. Frank Sangster, a seemingly ordinary dentist, becomes embroiled in a series of unexpected events that turn his once-orderly life into a chaotic whirlwind. The story begins when Frank prescribes drugs to a seductive patient, Sophie, after she manipulates him into believing she's in immense pain. This innocent lie sets off a chain reaction that leads Frank to become the prime suspect in a murder investigation. As he navigates this comic quagmire of illicit sex, illegal drugs, and inexplicable murder, Frank struggles to maintain his composure and clear his name.
Novocaine is a unique blend of comedy, drama, and thriller genres that explores the themes of deceit, consequences, and maintaining one's facade. Directed by David Atkins in 2001, the film follows Dr. Frank Sangster, an unlikely protagonist who finds himself entangled in a web of his own making. With its offbeat humor and biting satire, Novocaine offers a fresh perspective on the idea that appearances can be deceiving, especially when they are carefully cultivated by those around us.
