Odete (2005), directed by João Pedro Rodrigues, is a dramatic exploration of grief, obsession, and possession. The film revolves around three central characters: Pedro, Rui, and Odete. The story unfolds after Pedro's sudden death in a car crash following a dinner date with Rui to celebrate their first anniversary. Odete, who lives in the same building as Pedro, becomes obsessed with him after his death, stealing his ring and claiming she is carrying his child. Rui, grief-stricken and haunted by Pedro's apparition, struggles to cope with his loss. Odete's increasingly erratic behavior and her intrusion into Rui's life create a tense atmosphere, leading to an uncertain outcome.
