Zoë Yadira Saldaña-Perego, born June 19, 1978, is an American actress known primarily for her roles in science fiction film franchises. She began her acting career with a guest role in 'Law & Order' in 1999 and debuted on the big screen in 'Center Stage' (2000). Saldaña gained early recognition for her role opposite Britney Spears in 'Crossroads' (2002). In 2009, she achieved career breakthroughs with roles in 'Star Trek' as Nyota Uhura and James Cameron's 'Avatar' series as Neytiri. She has also portrayed Gamora in five Marvel Cinematic Universe films from 'Guardians of the Galaxy' to 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3'. Besides these franchises, Saldaña has starred in 'The Adam Project', 'From Scratch', and 'Emilia Pérez', earning several accolades for the latter.
