Story

In his final weeks before retirement, seasoned parole officer Jack Mabry (Robert De Niro) is assigned to evaluate convicted arsonist Gerald 'Stone' Creeson (Edward Norton) for early release. Stone initially tries to engage Jack in coarse banter and plea for leniency, but Jack remains aloof. Desperate to sway Jack's decision, Stone orchestrates a plan with his wife Lucetta (Milla Jovovich): she seduces Jack, aiming to manipulate him into granting Stone an early parole. As the trio becomes entangled in their web of deceit and passion, hidden motives and secrets emerge, blurring the lines between manipulation and genuine connection.

Summary

Stone is a tense thriller that explores themes of power, deception, and redemption through its complex characters. The film follows Jack Mabry, a weary parole officer nearing retirement, as he navigates his final cases, including Gerald 'Stone' Creeson, an incarcerated arsonist hoping for early release. Stone's manipulative tactics, orchestrated with his wife Lucetta, challenge Jack's professional integrity and force him to confront his own moral ambiguities. The film, directed by John Curran, is a study of corruption and the blurred lines between right and wrong in a world where manipulation and seduction hold sway.
