She initially gained recognition playing Dr. Susan Lewis on 'ER,' a role that earned her three Emmy Award nominations. Despite being contractually bound to appear in five seasons, she left the show during its third season and again in 2005 after reprising the role briefly in 2001. Stringfield is also recognized for her regular roles on 'NYPD Blue' and 'Guiding Light.' Her acting career has primarily focused on television appearances, though she has taken on various film roles as well.
