Samantha Jane Morton, born in 1977 in Nottingham, England, is an accomplished English actress known for her roles in independent films with dark themes, particularly period dramas. She began her career at age 15, appearing in British television series like 'Band of Gold' (1995-1996) and 'The History of Tom Jones: a Foundling' (1997). Morton's film credits include 'Emma' (1996), 'Jane Eyre' (1997), 'Under the Skin' (1997), 'Sweet and Lowdown' (1999), 'In America' (2003), 'Longford' (2006), and many others. She has received numerous awards, including a BAFTA Fellowship, BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and was nominated for Academy Awards and Emmy Awards.
